This is to announce that our next biannual Membership meeting will be held on Saturday, April 28th, 2018 in Fredericton, New Brunswick at the Fredericton Inn, at 1315 Regent Street (Prince Edward Room). This will be a one-day meeting. The final agenda is attached. Coffee and snacks will be provided at the meeting; however, lunch will not be provided. The location of the Fredericton Inn provides numerous nearby options for lunch!
As usual, the morning will be the Association Membership business meeting, for members (or those renewing their membership). As you all know, our annual membership runs from April 1 to March 31, so please take the opportunity to attend our meeting and renew your membership (membership form attached).
One important item to be addressed during our morning business meeting is the pending vacancy of the Board Executive Secretary position. This has come about because our current Secretary, Cora Woolsey, has just this month accepted a postdoctoral position with UNB. (Congratulations Cora!) In accordance with our Bi-laws, the Executive cannot have more than one person from an institution. As you know, our Vice-president, Gabriel Hrynick, is a professor at UNB. So, if you are an eligible Member and would like to serve as Secretary, please put your name forward before, or at, the meeting on April 28th.
For the afternoon portion of the meeting, which is open to the public, we have three scheduled presentations. The presenters are: Philip Taber, Librarian, UNB (“Copyright Law and the Dissemination of Your Research”), Christopher Shaw, M.A. Candidate, Anthropology, UNB (“A GIS Approach to Ancestral Wabanaki Canoe Routes and Travel Times”), and Cora Woolsey, Ph.D., Postdoctoral Scholar, UNB (“The Gaspereau Lake Reservoir Ceramic Assemblage: Shifting Technologies to Meet Increasing Demands at the Transition to the Late Woodland Period”). We are also lucky to have a number of UNB Master’s students agree to display their archaeological research posters at our meeting. The students on hand to discuss their posters and opportunities to do so have been made in the meeting schedule.
As usual, if you think some of your friends or colleagues, who are not presently members, would like to attend (or better yet join our Association), please invite them to attend.
We look forward to seeing you on April 28th!
